How To Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

How to stop comparing yourself to others is exactly what I’m talking about today. A lot of us deal with this issue. No matter who you are, how successful you are, it can still happen to the best of us. I know it happened to me a lot when I was too obsessed with health and fitness. When I was struggling with exercise addiction, I’d go on Instagram or look up workouts on YouTube to see who has the best body and how I could force myself to have a body like theirs. In those times I never felt like myself. Which is true, because anytime you try to compare yourself to others, you’re trying to be THEM and not YOU! It’s so easy to forget who we are when we’re comparing ourselves to others. There’s only one of YOU in this world. Why would you ever want to be somebody else? You’ll only have ONE body, why would you want someone else’s?

  1. How to stop comparing yourself to others

Take back your power! Do you find yourself giving people too much power over you? Do you find that what you feel about yourself is determined by what people say to you, how they treat you, what they think and feel about you? If so, then just know that NO ONE and NOTHING has the power to make you feel like anything, unless you let them. The truth is that YOUR thoughts create your feelings, which create your actions, which then create your results. So whenever someone says something to you you don’t like, you can give them the power of letting you feeling miserable or you can take back your power and be neutral to what they say.

  2. How to stop comparing yourself to others

Be happy for them! Whenever you find yourself being jealous of someone and tell yourself things like “Why can’t I have that? Why can’t I be as skinny as her? Why can’t I be as successful and courageous like him?”  then use that as an inspiration and a learning experience. Think about what these people have gone through to get to where they are. If they’re successful they have worked their asses off to get there. If someone’s super fit and skinny they might not be happy internally. They might look happy externally but miserable and lonely, and maybe struggling with an eating disorder. So whenever you’re happy for someone who has what you want, then good things happen to you as well. Let’s say you see someone wearing the most beautiful ring, just send them love and good vibes. Whatever you send out comes back to you! No one is your competition, they’re just an example of inspiration to you. Just because they have what you want it doesn’t mean you can’t have that as well. That’s limited thinking!

  3. How to stop comparing yourself to others

Acknowledge yourself! Again, whenever you see someone who has what you don’t have it’s a sign for you to look within. You’re seeing something in the that you’re not owning inside of you. Let’s say you find someone so beautiful, ask yourself where you’re not acknowledging your own beauty. What’s that person mirroring back to you? For this last tip I have a little exercise for you.
