Menstrual period – Today I’m sharing 3 reasons I’m grateful for my period. Long story short, I had lost my period for a year and a half due to stress, exercise addiction and orthorexia. In that year and a half, I was so desperate to get my period back, lacked patience and caused myself so much stress (on top of the stress I already had) that it made the recovery journey even longer. Which takes me to another point I want to make real quick. If you’re trying to get your period back and all you’re worrying about is how and when you’ll get it back, you’re only worsening the situation. Watch this video where I share tips I wish knew when I was trying to get my menstrual period back.
The day I regained my menstrual period was the happiest moments of my life. I felt like my biggest goal, at that time, came true. I felt fulfilled and endlessly grateful. Now, each month that I get my period I don’t take it lightly. I don’t take it for granted. I’m just as grateful for my period now as I was the first day I got it back. I always give thanks and treat myself extra special during those days.
Reason 1 I’m grateful for my menstrual period
My body trusts me. The fact that I’ve got my period back means that I’ve built a healthy enough relationship with my body for it to give me my menstrual period back. Having a healthy relationship with your body feels amazing. One of the things I do is to accept and love my body the way it is. As soon as you accept and love your body you won’t mistreat it anymore. You won’t put it through all that stress, over exercise and starvation/poor nutrition.
Reason 2 I’m grateful for my menstrual cycle
I feel like a woman again! I’ve mentioned before how unwomanly I used to feel when I didn’t have my period. Knowing that my body is capable of reproducing, resetting, cleansing makes me feel amazing. It’s doing what it’s supposed to be doing. My hormone levels are healthy and my period is a marker of fertility. It’s such a relief not worrying about wether I can get pregnant or not (if I ever want to have kids in the future).
Reason 3 I’m grateful for my period
It has taught me so much about my body. I feel more in tune with my body. I feel like it’s easier to listen to it and respect it. I know exactly what’s normal for me. I know when my flow is different, then my period is telling something about my health. Sometimes when you have brown spotting before the red blood comes, it is oxidized blood leftover from your last period and that your progesterone levels are low. It’s so amazing to learn so much about my body, I can’t not be grateful for it!
